Cold As Ice

on

They touch my skin and find it frosty
Yes, I am cold as ice…on the surface
But touch my heart for once and feel
Feel the warmth emerging from my core

They see me complete on my own and call me aloof
Yes, I am sufficient all alone…on the outside
But look past my chosen solitude and find
Find in me the fear of getting hurt in love

They believe in the façade of strength I wear
Yes, I am strong to the bone…on the surface
But remove the mask from my face and see
See the fragile heart I shield

They hear me singing songs of joy
Yes, I am a chirpy bird…on the outside
But cover your ears to this tune and hear
Hear me breaking in shards where it pains

They touch my skin and find it frosty
Yes, I am cold as ice…on the surface
But touch my heart for once and feel
Feel the warmth emerging from my core…

We are all so much more complex than we appear! Hope you find healing in your beautiful words.

What we appear is just a small fragment of our personalities that stay hidden somewhere. We are all trying to heal from something and writing helps! Thank you for stopping by, would love to hear from you again 🙂
