Auspiciously White

on

“What a shame that you have allowed this unlucky girl to be a part of this auspicious occasion” began a ‘concerned’ aunt. Another one butted in, “Her husband died the very next day of their marriage, she is an evil witch and you want her white shadow over your daughter’s wedding!” The poor mother tried to reason with them but all in vain.

Amid all the ifs and buts entered the ‘witch’ in her fateful color. Before any fingers could point, the bride questioned…

“How can a color depict her fate when in someone’s eyes she looks like a pretty bride in white?”

White is significant for peace not all this… This is too depressing for the bride… Nothing related to color.. if this was fact than most of the Christian marriages would not be successful na.?..
    Anyways I loved your words…😊

This pertains to some cultures where white is a symbol of death and that’s what I have pointed here- I have shown the contrast to cultures where white is a bridal wear!

  3. Our society really needs to “Grow up”. Rather than being happy for someone else, they will always point out such superstitious beliefs.

A well-written post highlighting our orthodox society where we have no empathy for the widows but brand them as inauspicious.
