I have been through phases in life where I pondered over this question. I may be otherwise content with my feminine identity but at some point I come across this thought. What would have been my life, had I been a guy?
No questions asked when I come home past midnight, with a shaking leg and blood shot eye. Nobody to raise an eyebrow when I idle away time with my ‘gang’. No issues if I cut my hair short, like really short. Nobody to eye me with lust when I travel late in public transport. Nobody to shower me with not so welcomed ‘compliments’ when I dress up in my shorts or dress down in my PJ’s! None to bug me when I bleed to death every month! No menstrual cramps to whine about, no mood swings to cry about. No compulsion to learn cooking so that I pass the ‘marriage material’ test. A lot less fuss about being slim, pretty and visually appealing.
A lot less ‘ladies first’ privileges, no more chivalry from men. Working for money is not just an option now, working is a reality! No more public display of emotions, can’t cry in front of others because, “Men don’t cry” is a norm I will have to adapt to. The ‘ready to help you out’ unknown people will be limited.
And again I ask, “Could Life Have Been Easier, Had I Been A Guy?”. Maybe for some days but I guess I am happy being a girl!
P.S. No generalizations made, these are solely my feelings!

I really feel sad when girls have to feel this way..But whosover you are you are made a girl because you are capable of being a Woman..
Its easy become a guy but it takes a lot to become a woman..👍🏻

Life is not easy for anyone, be it females or males. But I am happy being a girl!

You’re right – good and bad sides to both, though I’d suggest over history, women have definitely drawn the short straw so far as freedom, the right to power and public office, rights over their own bodies, to their children. We’ve often – and in some parts of the world still are – been second class citizens. Perhaps, one day this may change.

I appreciate that you shared your views on the post. There are differences in how the two genders are raised and how they find their place in the world. Though I feel that we are made women because only we can live this life, it demands strength!

On balance, I have to conclude that being a man is much easier. When we are untidy or unshaven, it is considered OK, even to be admired at times. We don’t have to have babies, go through the emotional toil of menstruation or menopause, and we are rarely sexually exploited. In some respects, it also depends on the country and culture where you are raised. Just more problems to add to those of gender.
Perhaps it would be good to experience 24 hours as the ‘other sex’?Then we could really decide.

I’ve thought of it many times, only if nature could allow us this switch…we could know how lucky we really are to not face the problems of the ‘other sex’!
