Standards of beauty they portray, any connection to real?
Norms set high, brought in a tray, borrowed from reel?

Thin and pretty, tall and fair; is that what we all look like?
No, not me! “Oh you have a defect”, sound straight from a mike!

I worry, I reflect; oh someone please put my fat to burn!
Came along my savior finally, said, “Go on a diet and never return”

I tried, I starved; it works! See how wonderful the efforts show
This visible ribcage rocks! Don’t know why mum’s tears flow?

All is well but something is wrong, what causes this constant fainting?
“The systems have given up”, and now I hang as a pretty painting!
