To the girl with red hair,
I saw you today zipping away in your silver sedan. It isn’t every day that I notice girls passing me on the freeway. But today was different, you were different. My eyes were fixed on you as you rolled down your window and popped your head out. I saw your red hair swaying in the wind. All those stereotypes, facts and genetic traits about redheads came back to me. But I promise you I wasn’t thinking about your low pain tolerance or higher production of vitamin D. I didn’t wonder why bees are attracted to you or if you were left handed. I didn’t think how rare redheads are but how one-of-a-kind you are. I saw the freckles on your nose and the warm scarf around your neck on a summer afternoon. I saw your beautiful smile and your sunburnt arm. I saw the happiness in your eyes and the laughter on your lips. I saw you and I saw why I had never been in love. I don’t know if you’ll be there but I’ll drive up the freeway every day at the same time hoping to see you again.
