Trivial

Like a speck of dust in the big world, I am insignificant in the greater scheme of things. The universe is huge and it doesn’t revolve around me. Who would think a fact as clear as that will have to be stated? But we’ve created extravagant scenarios in our little heads where everything affects us and we affect everyone. And the truth is- we are too trivial for this world.

While shedding tears for not being the center of universe, we’ve forgotten to be the central character of our story which now revolves around someone who has exited the stage!

  1. A Jewish take:

Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa said that every person should have two slips of paper in his pocket.

On one should be written: “The world was created for me.”

On the other should be written: “I am but dust and ashes.”

The trick is to have the wisdom to know which slip of paper to read at the right time.
