The Mirror Of My Soul

on

Stare deep in my eyes and look through the teary ocean
What do you find hidden in the mirror of my soul?

Can you see the truth staring at you from within?
Or you are blinded by the lies I’ve woven around me?
Can you look past my deceit where the gospel truth strives?
Or you’ve closed your eyes to my drowning candor?

Can you see the naked truth rising above my masked pretence?
Or the deception has long drowned the little honesty I had?
Can you uncover the eternal verities of my life?
Or the bluff has overpowered the last hint of the real me?

Stare deep in my eyes and find the answers in the mirror of my soul…

  1. The Mirror of My Soul is is really a beautiful poem. Can I make a suggestion which might make it flow better? I know some of us writers cringe when we get “notes.” No ? mark after third line so it’s one thought with a ? mark at the end of the fourth line. No ? mark after the fifth line and sixth line would flow better as “Or have you closed…” Do you read your poems aloud for flow and editing? I used to forget all that. Hope I did not overstep here. I love the poem very much. I’ll look for and share some of my poems in that same style or mindset.
