A Wild Flower

You don’t see me in your garden
Sitting pretty within a hedge
I am a flower in the wild
Holding my ground amid thorns

You don’t water me tenderly
Or sprinkle drops for a dewy look
I am a flower in the wild
Thirsty today, flooded tomorrow

You don’t touch me gingerly
Or pluck me to sit in your hair
I am a flower in the wild
Getting trampled under your feet

You don’t inhale me in your breath
Delving sweetly in my scent
I am a flower in the wild
Drowning in the smell of decay

You don’t see me in your garden
Sitting pretty within a hedge
I am a flower in the wild
Surrounded by death yet free to live
