I am a woman, a creature just like man
I am a wife, my man’s better half
I am a mother, nurturing is my nature
I am a sister, rock strong beside my brother
I am a lover, fighting all odds for my beloved
I am a friend, the trusting companion

I am a painter, the world is my canvas
I am a poet, talking depth with fewer words
I am a muse, for your sculpture of immense beauty
I am a singer, my voice stirs emotions

I am a human, just like my male counterpart
But why is my identity incomplete without him?
Why do I need his name with mine, in a suffocating relationship?
Why am I judged at every step, explanations asked for every thought?
Why is my life not my own, like a thread hangs at your mercy?
Because I am a woman, struggling in a man’s world!
